About Delena
Hi, I’m Delena!
(she/her)
I’m a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of Illinois and have specialized training and certifications in Trauma, Grief and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming therapy. I work with young adults, adults and older adults specializing in supporting clients navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, sexual orientation, gender identities and expressions, and major life transitions. I have a particular passion for working with women experiencing fertility challenges and grief, providing a grounded space to process the emotional and physical complexities of that journey.
I became a therapist after navigating my own experiences with grief and fertility issues, which inspired me to help others move through challenges with compassion and hope. In 2008 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I understand the difficult journey to fertility and the complex emotions surrounding this experience. I bring that personal understanding into my work, offering a gentle and grounded presence for you who may be facing some of the most vulnerable moments in your life.
My Approach
I am here to support you and be part of your healing.
I take a warm approach and often use humor to highlight the fact that we are all in this life together. I also approach therapy as collaborative and deeply rooted in evidence-based practices: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I practice mindfulness, somatic awareness, strengths-based work, motivational interviewing and cultural humility. I also value the importance of systems of support and take a holistic, person-centered view of your lived experience. My goal is to help you feel seen, understood, and empowered as you build resilience and move toward healing.
